Building a Youth FinTech Talent Ecosystem: Connecting Academia and Industry Through Innovation!
In response to the talent demands driven by the rapid development of the financial technology industry, FinTechSpace grandly held the “FinTech Innovation Micro-Program × 2025 FinTech Campus Successor Internship Launch Ceremony” on July 2nd. The event was presided over by Secretary-General Tang-Chieh Wu of the Bankers Association of the Republic of China, with Chief Secretary Chih-Chi Lin from the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) in attendance to provide guidance. The ceremony gathered important guests from both industry and academia, including Deputy General Manager Ching-Ping Chiang from Hua Nan Bank, Dean Ya-Hui Lien from the College of Management at National Chung Cheng University, Associate Dean Liang-Chih Liu from the College of Management at National Taipei University of Technology, Director Wei-Chung Miao from the Graduate Institute of Finance at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Chair Meng-Hsiang Lin from the Department of FinTech Applications at Ming Chuan University. From both industry and academic perspectives, they jointly unveiled a new chapter in industry-academia collaboration. This launch ceremony not only announced the official start of the industry-academia cooperation program but also encouraged young students to actively participate in industry practice, preparing for future career development and demonstrating Taiwan’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of financial technology talent.
Dual-Track Approach: Micro-Program + Internship System, Comprehensively Building FinTech Practical Capabilities
To strengthen students’ understanding and participation in the financial technology industry and cultivate a new generation with practical FinTech capabilities, FinTechSpace launched the “FinTech Innovation Micro-Program” for the first time this year. In partnership with National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taipei University of Technology, National Taipei University, National Chung Cheng University, and Ming Chuan University, the program adopts a cross-university joint teaching model, introducing practical topics such as FinTech forward-looking trends, AI applications, financial fraud prevention, and ESG innovation. Students can access professional courses designed by faculty from different universities and, through cross-domain integrated series courses combined with problem-based learning approaches—from problem definition and creative ideation to solution implementation—develop logical thinking, data analysis, and teamwork capabilities, gradually accumulating the ability to solve practical financial scenario application problems and building future workplace competitiveness.
Fourth Campus Successor Program: 31 Financial Institutions, Students from 45 Universities Participate
Now in its fourth year, the “FinTech Campus Successor” program has 31 financial institutions and startups providing nearly 100 internship positions this year, covering diverse fields such as AI engineering, data analysis, programming development, data analytics, and marketing planning. The program attracted enthusiastic applications from nearly 300 students from 45 domestic and international universities, demonstrating the younger generation’s high enthusiasm and interest in the financial technology field. Particularly noteworthy this year is the enthusiastic participation from students in eastern Taiwan, showing that the program’s influence has successfully expanded to all regions of Taiwan, promoting inter-regional talent exchange and balanced resource development. Two “Elite Seed Training Camps” were specially arranged in the north and south to help students build a solid foundation in financial technology and strengthen workplace soft skills and interview preparation. After document review and interview processes, 39 students were successfully matched with internship institutions. Additionally, this year, 7 outstanding interns will be selected as “International Campus Ambassadors” to accompany FinTechSpace to the global financial technology event—the “Singapore FinTech Festival” in November—to personally experience the latest global financial technology applications and development trends, expand international perspectives, and strengthen career development competitiveness.
Connecting Industry-Academia Resources to Build a Youth FinTech Talent Ecosystem
Since 2018, FinTechSpace has successively launched cultivation programs such as “FinTech Campus Cooperation Courses,” “Campus Successor Program,” and “Digital Sandbox Campus Demonstration Base,” having cultivated over a thousand young FinTech talents to date and successfully matched over a hundred students with internships at startups or financial institutions. This year, through comprehensive course upgrades and expanded industry-academia linkages, combining cross-university faculty and industry resources, the program aims to further deepen the industry-academia cooperation model and build a flexible and sustainable youth talent ecosystem.
In his opening remarks, Secretary-General Tang-Chieh Wu of the Bankers Association expressed gratitude to all financial institutions, financial peripheral organizations, and universities for their enthusiastic participation and support, providing students with valuable practical experience opportunities. He also hoped that through the “FinTech Innovation Micro-Program,” more outstanding FinTech talent would continue to be cultivated to promote the continued growth and development of the financial industry. FSC Chief Secretary Chih-Chi Lin pointed out that facing technological waves such as AI, big data, and blockchain, financial industry transformation is imperative. Financial professionals not only need professional knowledge but must also combine information technology and innovative adaptability. He encouraged participating students to learn courageously, practice actively, and make good use of industry exchange opportunities to lay a solid foundation for the future.
In the future, FinTechSpace will continue to collaborate with more financial institutions, startups, and educational institutions to expand the scale of talent cultivation. Through workshops, innovation competitions, and other diverse formats, it will strengthen the linkage between industry and academia, making financial technology an important stage for young talents to spread their wings and develop professionally.
