The 2024 SDGs Youth Leadership Forum, from October 28 to 30, 2024, at Okinawa University, Japan, will bring together youth leaders from over 30 countries to address climate challenges. Our foundation will assist Social Impact Investment Foundation (SIIF) in arranging the forum, which aims to empower youth in sustainable development through leadership and advocacy.
Participants will engage in workshops and lectures focused on climate solutions, including using the EN-ROADS climate simulation tool. A key objective is drafting the “Okinawa Declaration,” calling on industrialized nations to support small island states with climate adaptation.
Day One starts with icebreakers and a workshop using En-ROADs, a climate modeling tool conducted by MIT Sloan’s Sustainability Initiative. In the evening, the “Youth Sustainability Night” fosters cross-cultural dialogue among participants.
Day Two opens with speeches from forum leaders and international guests. Students will present SDGs Impact Action projects, showcasing youth-led sustainability efforts. A keynote on “FinTech for Good” by Ming Chuan University will highlight the role of finance in sustainability. Workshops will explore how industrialized nations can assist small island states. The day ends with an awards ceremony and a second “Youth Sustainability Night.”
On Day Three, the final version of the Okinawa Declaration will be drafted by youth and international climate representatives. The closing ceremony will feature the declaration reading, and the next host city, Kuala Lumpur, will be announced.
This forum offers a platform for youth to advocate for climate action and engage in global sustainability efforts. We invite passionate individuals to join and make their voices heard.
